Joycelyn Parker
Joycelyn Parker, a Houston native, has now been dancing for 22 years and teaching for 10 years. She is a dance graduate of the High School for the Performing & Visual Arts, and a dance graduate of Lamar University.
Joycelyn's dance career started in the competitive dance world with Darlette Bailey's Kids N Dance for 7 years, and then continued with Melissa Hook's Masters of Dance, now Masters Upper Level, for 2 years. Later, she joined the Houston Metropolitan Dance Center continuing to train in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, pointe, and contemporary for 8 years.
Joycelyn was a 6-year member of the Houston Metropolitan Met Too Company, a 2010-2012 member of the Lamar University Dance Team, member/choreographer of Solid Ground Dance Collective Company, the 2016-2018 Assistant Director for Ginger Gondron Dance Arts competition company, and now an Assistant Coach for the Lamar University Dance Team.
Throughout her years of dancing, Joycelyn has been able to dance in works by Marlana Walsh-Doyle, Frank Hatchett, Steven Boyd, Peter Chu, Joe Celej, Pattie Obey, Kiki Lucas, Kiesha Lalama, Terrill Mitchell, Brixey Blankenship-Cozad, Travis Prokop, Victoria Brown, Sean Carmen, Darlette Johnson Bailey, Kerry Jackson, Jhon Stronks, Golden Wright, and more.
Locally, Ms. Parker has taught for Art of Dance, City Dance Center and Ginger Gondron Dance Arts.
