About Us

The Department of Dance at Clifton J. Ozen Magnet High School has been established since 1997.

The department's main objective is to provide a well-rounded dance education to dancers who are interested in pursuing a dance career.

A comprehensive study of six major dance techniques is available.  Students are trained in ballet, tap, jazz, modern dance, and Ballroom & Latin.  Along with these movement techniques, students learn dance theory; which includes dance history, dance terminology and the study of the human body for dancers.

Participation in the dance department is available for Ozen High School students, incoming zoned and non-zoned students who have been accepted through the audition for the magnet program for Media Technology & Fine Arts.  All potential students must meet the dance magnet program's requirements.

Students have the opportunity to continue their dance education, during all four years of high school.  After studying with the dance department, students should have the capabilities to continue their dance education in a university dance program.

The dance department consists of approximately 100 dance students.  As a result of our tremendous growth, potentional students must meet certain requirements to be accepted into the dance magnet program.  See "requirements."

The dance department is designed to meet the needs of all students (adult beginners to advanced dancers).

As a result of setting high standards for the dancers at Ozen Magnet High School, the Department of Dance expects discipline, hard work, and professionalism from all students.
